Thanksgivsmas

I am sitting in the airport this morning very thankful for the few days I had to spend with my family over Thanksgiving.

Not only did we celebrate Thanksgiving, but we also got to celebrate Christmas early! We started this tradition a few years ago when my little brother got married. We do Christmas one year when we’re all together and Thanksgiving the next.

This year we had lots of fun decorating the tree and the house. And we turned on the fireplace just because these Texans think it’s cold at 40 degrees.

I love having a fireplace mantle to decorate! I am not gonna lie. I also love the glow of Christmas lights.

And I love the thought put into all the gifts. This year I got an extra special gift from my little sister, who stood in line for hours this summer after just getting back from visiting me, to get Janet Evanovich’s autograph for me! Talk about some hyperventilation! Wow!

And I learned that the little brewery in Shiner, Texas blesses texans with some amazing cheer!

I hope your Thanksgiving was as great as ours!

Happy trails!

My Addiction

I’m admitting it. Finally. Admitting what you ask?

Okay. So I have several addictions.

I love those strawberry thumbprint cookies at the Celebrity Bakery and those along with some tomato basil soup will be among the things I consume while I’m back in Texas next week.

There’ll be a trip to the Sonic of course (my only fast food vice).

A girl’s sushi night! Whoo hooooooooooo!

I love Shiner Bock beer, which by the way, you can’t get in South Dakota.

And finally, I’m addicted to Janet Evanovich. Or rather her Stephanie Plum series. No, I pretty much like everything she writes.

I finally broke down- well ok, Zach broke me down and I bought the, so far, last book in her series a couple weeks ago. So I ‘ve read them all now. And I’m ready to re-read them, once I get through a couple Grisham novels.

Those of you who aren’t familiar with Stephanie Plum, let me just tell you. She’s a former lingerie buyer, turned bounty hunter. She keeps her gun in her cookie jar, is a master fibber, knows how to use her feminine wiles when need be and she’s always going to get her man; even if her crazy grandmother, or big-talking sidekick of a partner, Lula, get in the way. She has uncanny luck, and an an on again off again romance with a Trenton, NJ Police Officer, Joe Morelli; not to mention the hot and steamy Ranger, who is her mentor and bounty hunter extraordinare!

Janet is a skilled writer, and these books are laugh out loud, bust a rib funny. The disfunctional family, the crazy grandmother, the mother that can’t leave her alone, two very hot men in her life… It’s all there. If you’re looking for a good read, you can’t go wrong here…

The Book is Finished

Yesterday I read, Hot Six. The entire book.

It was exceptionally entertaining.

I would read it again!

I laughed out loud…a lot.

I needed that yesterday.

Maybe that book was a bit addicting.

I am going to start Hot Stuff by Evanovich tonight!

Blah Blah

Today started off all crazy.

First, I overslept. I was supposed to go to church with my friend T, but I didn’t make it because it was like 10:15 by the time I finally rolled out of bed.

I had to go feed 6 head of horses, clean stalls, feed dogs, check cats, and eat something as well as shower. I still haven’t hit the shower, and have one more stall to clean but I was out of coffee, so I had to come inside to get some!

Second, Grandma is NO better. The doctor said her kidneys are now not even filtering liquid out of her body. He has given her a dose of Lasix which could jump-start her kidneys. We will know by this afternoon if it works. If it does not, then that is the end of this story. Grandma is 93, in case any of you are wondering.

Third, it’s a muddy, nasty mess outside, and I doubt it will be dry enough for lessons in the morning. Ugh.

Today I must clean the house and probably wash some laundry and roll some leg wraps that have been sitting in the basket for a week. I will probably start a new book too. I’m thinking “Hot Six” by Janet Evanovich sounds good. My friend let me borrow her copy.

Maybe it will be less crazy this afternoon. I’m not holding my breath. Life is just this way sometimes.
