This past year was the first year I’ve really gotten to “go” on my horse. And as such, he won me two qualifiers for the Bonus Race Finals in Lincoln, Nebraska. I had a blast and I’ve already added every race that gives out qualifiers to my schedule for this summer because I want to go back!
Our first run for the year was made on Thursday afternoon. We hit the second barrel. But the photographer got a great image of us around can number one.
Friday proved to be a better run, though I clocked nearly the same time. I didn’t, however, knock anything down. No check from this run.
Saturday, I went to the Bonus Race Pen for the first of my two qualifying runs. I won a check for my effort (it paid my fees back, and a portion of other expenses). Sunday, I hit the first, but was really pleased with how I rode my horse. Saturday I really let him down — I was tight and nervous and it showed in the alley, and around the first barrel.
Sunday’s Run was better. I couldn’t stop smiling, despite the fact that we tipped first. It was all rider error but the horse under me felt incredible. The facility in Lincoln is really nice and I’m crossing my fingers and toes that I’ll win another qualifier or two this coming summer!
One of these days it’s all going to come together, I’m going to ride my horse confidently, help him as I need to, and when I do, watch out world. My smile will knock you over.

You guys look great, you go with him and ride quietly. I’m never a fan of riders who make me tired from watching their runs.
