Busy by Choice

January 23, 2007 by admin Leave a Comment

I hear this a lot, “You seem really busy right now.” Or, “you’re always so busy.”

It’s true. I am. I don’t have a 9-5 job, Monday through Friday like most. My life isn’t like most. I’m different. That’s my choice.

I try to leave my house by 8-8:30am everyday. That is about to change to 7:30 am. I go check on my horses and give them hay. I go to the office. I stay at my office until I take a short lunch break, if I take a lunch break (I am on lunch now). Somedays, I do not take lunch. I leave my office at 2:30-3pm. I go to my barn. I am horseback by 3:30.

On Mondays and Wednesdays I give riding lessons beginning at 4pm. I don’t quit until dark. Then after my students leave, I have to finish up with the horses, put my tack away, clean stalls, feed, and water. I might make it home by 7:30. Somedays it’s later. As soon as there is more daylight, it will be more like 8:30 or 9pm before I’m home. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I try to make time for barrel races. If I go to a barrel race, I won’t get home until 9:30 or later. Sometimes, midnight.

On the weekends, I still have stalls to clean, horses to ride, horses to feed and barrel races to attend. I have kids that I coach, so I get paid to go to events and help them while they are there. This weekend I have a barrel race on Sunday. So I’ll have to leave my house by 9:30, have my trailer loaded and horses in it by 10am, and be on the way to the barrel race, as it starts at 12pm. I won’t get home until 5 or so.

So, yeah, friends and family, I’m busy. You know what else, I’m not sorry that I’m busy; yes I miss you. Yes, sometimes I am sad that I don’t get to go out. BUT. I have goals. And someday, when I’m in Vegas in December, you’ll know why I worked so hard. You’ll get to say, I knew that girl when… Someday when I’m endorsing saddles and giving clinics, my life will be fulfilled- because I’ll be affecting horses and people for the better.

Yes. I am busy. My choice.

Spread the Love!
