The Move

December 31, 2008 by admin 5 Comments

I hinted at this yesterday; that’d we’d be moving. Zach’s ex-wife and kids moved to her old hometown over Christmas break. In a couple ways it is bittersweet: we are sad to see the kids go, and be so far away, but we are excited to be moving into his house down on the ranch where we can see horses out nearly every window!

I suppose I should explain further. I work on the Ducheneaux Ranch. I date Zach Ducheneaux. Currently we are living in a house that is 16 miles from the actual ranch, but is land we have use of for some of our horses. This is the house that has the amazing views. The ranch is still on the river, though I won’t get to see it, or watch fireworks off the back porch anymore, or walk/run to it, and I will miss that, to be sure. But I will be trading that view for proximity to my chores, my horses and the view of horses out my back door- which for this girl, his pretty hard to beat. But wait. Zach reminds me, that I can ride to the river!

We’re* going to do some painting this week (like an overhaul of all but the kids’ rooms) and hope to be moved in by the middle of the month. Wish me luck. I’ll be painting right at 1000 square feet, and some of that will be faux finshed. Yay! I’m getting my favorite colors- tan, sienna red, green and cream. I’ll be planning window treatments (Dear Jill, do I have to have curtains or can I use scarves, and can they be chocolate-colored?) and I’ll have two bathrooms to decorate (one of which will be getting faux leather walls thanks to the Paper ‘Plique Technique). Yay! And an open soffit over the kitchen cabinets so I now have a place put my kitchen addiction: Roosters.

I will try to update you on the project- tomorrow there should be before photos, and then there will also be during and after photos as they are taken. I’m contemplating putting a marker on the floor so I will know where I stood during the photo shoot for each room.

So there, loyal readers, fans, friends and family. You now have the skinny on the move.

*I use the term “we” losely. Zach will move the refrigerator for me. He’s going to clean and I’m going to paint. Painting is down- way down his totem pole for things he likes to do. He’d rather clean a stall than paint, and he really doesn’t like to clean stalls either.

Spread the Love!

    Jj;
    How do you get your comments to show up on a new page? I am getting 'old' and don't understand the directions. Oh HELP; oh help!

    OK … don't be mean to this ol' Lady! Where and Why are you & Zach moving? Staying on the ranch? I can't keep up with you!

    I have gloves like those and I put those hand-warmer-thingies in the front; so I can thaw my frozen fingers.

    .duh. I just read the “WHY”.
    So this is Zach’s own house and no more “mommy”?
    COOL! And he’s going to let you decorate to your hearts desire?
    Make sure there’s a guest room and a Craft Room. Even Cowgirls need craft rooms.

    Yes, Zoe, I may decorate to my heart’s desire. Whatever I want. We’re even putting in an electric fireplace, and Zach is going to build me a built in desk, bookshelves, fireplace, mantle and a place for a future flat-screen TV along one wall. He LOVES me!
