So I stayed home today. Well it didn’t start out that way. I got up, had coffee, checked the weather, got dressed and went down to the ranch to do chores. I went in, Zach cooked me breakfast, and when that was done it was time to go back out and figure out how to spend this day. It’s blustery out. Basically cloudy- could snow tonight (30% chance) and it was about 35, but with the north wind at 20-40mph, it felt about 25. So. Cold.
After wandering around for a bit, I looked at Zach and said, I am going to the house. It is too cold! I’m a wimp, I know. But I didn’t grow up in cold. I don’t know know how I’m going to do this. All. Winter. Long.
A few weeks ago, I bought this kick ass mixer and these kick ass mixing bowls from Crate and Barrel (my new favorite store!) I’ve been dying to use it. I bought it since it’s time to start baking for the holidays! I wanted to make a cheesecake, that is compliments of my former grandmother in law. I haven’t got around to that yet, but me staying home today was dangerous.
I made two batches of cookies:
One is a Peanut Butter Butterscotch Cookie and Zach cannot keep his hands out of the batter bowl since he just got home.
The other is one of my favorite kind of cookie, a shortbread or butter cookie. I wanted to make them with some cornstarch but I didn’t have any.
Needless to say the house smells delightful and I will have to be careful not to undo the 4 lbs I’ve lost so far!
