Horsemanship and Horse Training
Here on the ranch we practice the art of horsemanship which is more than simply riding horses. It’s the art of understanding how they think, why they do what they do and learning to work with the horse. In essence, teaching the horse to want to please us, to trust us, to be light, soft and responsive. We start this from the very beginning, from weanlings being halter-broke, to making bridle horses. The goal is to go at the speed of each horse, as they are all individuals. Focusing on kind training that goes at their own pace, and laying a foundation of trust and clear communication, helps us create the best horses to perform the various tasks we ask of them.
Our training methods are based on those of the late, great Ray Hunt, Buck Brannaman and Curt Pate, among others.
We do take a limited number of outside horses for training with the rate varying based on the horse’s abilities, age and previous training.
We do plan to hold some horsemanship schools and teach the art of horsemanship and buckaroo style riding; making your horse comfortable, which in turn helps him take better care of you, the rider. We hope to offer some colt starting schools as well as some more advanced classes.
Jenn also offers barrel horse training, tuning and finishing, as well as coaching services.
Please feel free to contact us with any horse question you may have. We’d love to hear from you!
