Art Giveaway!

December 7, 2016 by ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~ 21 Comments

It’s been ages since we gave anything away! And I’m working on another giveaway for next week too! Just in time to help you stuff the stockings of those you love!

I’m feeling super generous, so I’m going to give away some calendars, and some digital downloads! Who is excited?

Those of you that follow me on Instagram know that I’ve been on quite the kick. And by kick, I mean I’ve been mostly posting images that contain tons of negative space. Personally, I love negative space. I think it makes an image even more compelling because you look at it and your mind wanders to the empty space. What does it contain? Does that sky go on forever, or is the snow ever going to stop coming down? Are the horses cold? Or at least that is how my mind works.

In honor of the Holiday Season, and my little art kick, I’d love to know what your favorite image from my latest project is. Rest assured I’m going to keep working on this, and eventually I’d like to compile a book of gorgeous, images that contain negative space. Oh, the prettiness of it all.

To enter this art giveaway, check out my new gallery of images, and tell me which ones are your favorite and why! Leave a comment, and you’re entered, plus you can do other fun things for additional entries! Here are a few images to whet your whistle:

Overcast

Generalissimo in Black and White

Painted Pony

If we get to 50 comments, I’ll give a second digital download to one of those who commented on the post!

About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.

Give your horse or dog, or cat the gift of mobility.

Black and White, horses eye over top of second horse. The simplicity of the photo lets the viewer create their own story.

I love Flint. Grulla is my favorite coloring, and that face just wins my heart. I love the ears and strong jaw… much like my dun mare, Mariah.

Love this series of photos! I think my favorite is Banjo in the Snow. He looks as though he is a gingerbread horse dusted in sweet powdered sugar!

Mares on High Key! It reminds me of a painting, I had in my room as a little girl. The painting had mountains in the background. My step dad always told me there a beautiful stallion in the mountains watch over all the horses below.

I just happen to love all of the photos but I may be a bit biased after spending time in gods country. I certainly love the “Barely Dry” photo since I happen to own that piece and it is beautiful. My absolute favorite is the “Flint” photo because I’m slightly obsessed with grullas and the snow makes it heavenly. I also have a special place in my heart for the “BW NB” photo, for that fact that i’m a sucker for black and white photos and this one is wonderful. However, anyone would be so lucky to get any one of them!
