Instagramming my way Through Vegas

December 12, 2014 by ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~ 2 Comments

I didn’t take nearly the number of photographs I thought I’d take. I’ve arrived at this place in my life, where when I go on vacation, I go on VACATION! I didn’t pack my big camera, and I didn’t whip out the iPhone nearly as much as I thought I would. I had great fun!

I purchased my first pair of Old Gringo Boots, my first Olive and Pique cap (I seriously have to get out more), and a couple pairs of boot socks – you know the kind with the lace that stick out the top? The Cowboy and I did a little Christmas Shopping before his work conference started, and I’m down to just a few people left to shop for!

On the way to the airport, we ran into a South Dakota Traffic Jam:

While in the Minneapolis Airport, I left my iPad in the women’s restroom. I realized it as we nearly got to our gate. It wasn’t there by the time I rushed back, of course. Texting between the Cowboy and me, he suggested I call lost and found and leave a message. So I picked up a courtesy phone and left a message. I’m walking back to the gate where we are to board in about 20 minutes (and I’ve not yet got an assigned seat, mind you, but do have a Bloody Mary awaiting me – courtesy of Zach), when the PA system calls to a passenger who lost an iPad to report to the Express Spa (I thought they said spot). I flagged down one of the guys driving a golf cart and asked him to take me. We ended up at security, where the older gentlemen working the counter said it was the Express Spa, and showed us where to go. I dive off the cart, I’m like, “do you have the iPad?” and they’re like, “yeah, what’s it look like?”

I describe it and they pull it out of the drawer… Hallelujah! They said an older couple had turned it in for me! The world is still a good place!

One of the best Bloody Marys I have ever had!

The next day, as we head out to go to the Cowboy Christmas, I realize I don’t know where my iPhone is. Seriously. You cannot trust me with technology this trip, I guess. It was in the room, on the coffee table, thankfully!

Here’s my cute new cap:

As per usual for Vegas, I ate food that I don’t usually get/make myself at home. This ceviche was no exception. Sooooo Good!

Mmmmm… Ceviche! #vegas #eatinginvegas #tequilabar

I bought a lot of great new earrings:

There are so many earrings, it’s really going to need to be its own post.

Of course, we always stay at the Flamingo- it’s cliche, but there really are flamingos, at The Flamingo!

And there are pelicans too!

There are more photos, and more goodies to share, but it’s supposed to be absolutely gorgeous outside today so I want to spend my day enjoying 50 degrees!

Happy Trails!

About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.
