Old Man Winter

December 14, 2008 by Shauna 5 Comments

I have never hated winter. I’ve always loved the snow. That was, until I moved to South Dakota.
Yesterday I had a breakdown- complete with tears. I realized I might be hard pressed to ride a horse for a while. Oh, yes, I can ride in the barn, but it’s not very big and isn’t really a place where I can keep a horse legged up. I have horses to saddle and weanlings to halter break, so this cold weather won’t be a complete bust. But still, the thought of it being too icy and too slick and way to darn cold to long-trot out across a pasture on Shuttle, Gump, Nora or Big, is just depressing to me.

It’s blizzarding today. I have decided I officially DESPISE winter. Snow in the mountains when I’m skiing or want to throw snowballs is just wonderful. Snow when you can’t see to the river, when it’s in your windows (in the house) and it’s an ambient temperature of -8 outside with a high of -2 for the day (and a low pushing into -20), well, I’m just not down with that. Not. At. All.

I’m contemplating a trip to Texas for the end of January, and most of February. I can take some of these colts with me, and ride and go to barrel races, and be warm. Not frozen. I can get up and ride everyday! I mean, I could do that here too, but I am NOT adjusting well to this, now, frozen tundra. The cows and horses do not seem to mind. I am not equipped to deal with this, I don’t think.

Ah. At least in less than a week I’ll be back in Texas, and I’ll be thinking, “Wow! Forty-five is SOOOOO warm!”

Spread the Love!

That would sure take some time to adjust to the temp. It’s really pretty today, kind of windy, but in the low 70’s. Warm enough to open the windows and air out the house.

One of the most commonly used purposes of interior designs is Custom window treatments. The window treatments mainly focus on decorating the windows of the house. Depending on the size of your room and the placement of the window different window treatments can be put to use. Creativity is very much required to lend a design to your house. You can make use of the different colored curtains to add zeal to your room.

What happened to “I missed the snow mud and dirt”? LOL

Man, I would HATE that cold weather. I don’t mind snow. I don’t mind cold, but I do not like freezing, below zero, crap. Not at all.
