Photography

I specialize in natural light Western lifestyle photography in Central South Dakota. The majority of my photography is taken right here on our West- River Ranch, featuring the men and women I work with in my day-to-day life and the horses we raise and learn alongside.

In addition to the photography I do here at home, I have plenty of additional experience in the following areas:

  • Commercial photography
  • Portrait photography (family portraits, engagement photography, wedding photography, senior photos, etc.)
  • Event photography

I would love to help your family, your business or your event look their very best.

The story of how I got to this point in my photography career is something I could have never dreamt.

In 2008 I was handed an old Canon camera – a 10D, to be specific. That was pretty much it. I had no idea how to use it, no manual, and no idea what I was doing. What I did know was what I wanted to see on the other side, and well, as they say, the rest is history.

Photography has been kind to me. I laid a foundation on the ranch shooting the subject matter I love most – horses and the people who love them. Over time that opened doors into more diversified photography work. In 2013, I won my first photography award — an honorable mention in an international equine photography competition. Two years later in 2015, TIME Magazine named me the “Instagrammer to Follow” for the State of South Dakota.

That opened more doors than I never knew existed.

Since then, I’ve shot several magazine covers, I’ve had my work featured in O-Magazine, countless Ag Publications. Thanks to my photography and lifetime of horsemanship experience, I also have the privilege to write a monthly column, featuring my photography, for the American Quarter Horse Association Ranch Horse Blog.

I would love to capture your family, your ranch branding, engagement or other event. Please use my contact form and let’s get talking!
