About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.

Give your horse or dog, or cat the gift of mobility.

Hmmmm I love the caps but I think my favorite item on the site was not pictured! Spurs with crystals? That sounds just like what I need & therefore my favorite item from Cowgirl Swank : ) I would love to rock the cap with jeans, a cute tee & cropped jacket

That cap is wicked cool and it wouldn’t definitely be something to show off when I go to my pool league! 😀 All of the hats on her website are unique and cool. I especially love the one that says “crazy4ponytails”!

What I love most about their product is that you can get a hat with crystals that isn’t TOO girly to wear. I live cowhide and bling but too often all you can find is gothic crosses or skulls and I’m so excited that I can get a hat with the things I love that fits my personality and my feminine side!!!!

    BTW… Hook’em Horns 😉

Love the “hook’em” comment! I’m technically an aggie, but my brother went to UT, so my family kind of just slides under the table around the fact that I am not a Longhorn. 🙂

Those are SO cute! What original ideas she has! And the one that your giving away is just the colors I would have chosen, go with most anything, and won’t get dingy in my truckin’ job! I love it!

I would love to win this hat because it is gorgeous and I could use a new hat. Also I saw that she make the “fight like a girl” hats which supports the fight against endometriosis which I was diagnosed with about 2 months ago. Its encouraging to see support out there. <3

I don’t know, Miss Jennifer… it’s a beautiful hat, and the person who made it is obviously very talented! However, I don’t know about that orange blinged out longhorn. I think it might be a bit better as, say, a maroon Gig’em thumbs up! =)

I knew you would say this! Believe it or not, this isn’t supposed to be a UT hat, though it looks like one. Have a good one!

I love these style caps. I saw them on a friend’s FB page a while back and thought it was really neat. I am thinking THIS is what’s needed for a short hair bad hair day coverup. . . though I also like the visors and think they’d be perfect for hot summer days.

And, hey, tan goes with anything 😉

I love that cap! My favorite things on her site were actually the military caps because I LOVE anything with cowhide on it, and these are gorgeous!! I would love to win this cap because it’s completely different than what a lot of people are wearing here in Missouri and I LOVE to stand out! I hope I win! (:
