Will She or Won’t She?

June 5, 2008 by Shauna 7 Comments

The prognosis is guarded for whether or not this infection in my mare’s stifle will clear up.

When I began thinking about it I just lose it.

I need to try to think clearly so that I can figure out how to best deal with the issue and make a list of questions to ask the doctor.

Last night Megan kinda told me what was going on with Tex but sent me here to read more. I’m glad you got to be there for the surgery. Exploratory surgeries are neat to watch. I’m glad Tex is doing better and I’ll keep him and you in my prayers.

Thanks Jason. Did she tell you what is going on with Shuttle? She’s got an infected Stifle Joint.

She didn’t mention anything about Shuttle. The last time she said anything about the horses was when I went out to your parents to check on one for colic and she showed me pictures from when Dulce was born. What’s going on? How come you aren’t at the race with your family?

Shuttle is who I am referring to in this blog post. Tex is the dog- the dog isn’t doing good now either.

His White blood cell count as gone way up by double what it was, and he was very lethargic this afternoon and didn’t want to eat.

The vet finally gave him some liquid food via a big syringe and put it down his throat. We’ll see if that helps.

    My poor buddy.

Try boiling up some chicken and cooking some rice for the dog. Sometimes that will stimulate their appetite and get them eating again. I am sure after the surgery his WBC is going to be elevated, especially since they removed part of the intestines. Why isn’t the prognosis so good for your horse?

We boiled some chicken and brown rice for him this weekend. He had been eating it but didn’t want to eat it today when it was offered to him.

The prognosis is bad, b/c the joint itself is infected.

Sorry if I’m kind of out of it and not picking up on things. I’ve been in the hospital and they’ve put me on new medication and I’m trying to adjust to it and it’s not working so well. I swear I’m usually smarter than this.

Has Tex been having normal bowel movements the past few days? At this point, I’d pretty much try giving him anything just as long as he eats.

And an infected joint is not good. Do they have any idea what they are going to try and do?
