Yesterday and ANOTHER Coyote

October 24, 2008 by Shauna 3 Comments

So it’s still cold.
So cold in fact that I didn’t leave the house on Wednesday. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately and I wasn’t about to brave a 40 degree day with winds gusting out of the north at 40mph.

Yesterday I managed to drag myself out of the house to ride. Staying warm while horseback wasn’t a problem. I couldn’t bring myself to stay outside too long and I needed to run since I skipped the last two days. Partly I skipped because I didn’t feel good. And partly I skipped because it was so friggin’ cold!

I managed to get dressed and do a short 5 minute warm up and then off, down the cow trail I went, Higgins running his typical zig-zag in front of me. I manged to run a full 12 minutes this time before my lungs and heart and legs gave out. I began again after a 30 second walk-recover and then I spotted it, another coyote about 50 feet away. This one, however wasted no time running away from me, into hiding somewhere. And I saw a gigantic white tail buck! And lots of ducks on the river; swimming peacefully enjoying the gloomy day. Ducks are good at that.

I should run again today. But it’s cold outside again.

Spread the Love!

This post makes me think of Dances with Wolves, and his narration of his journal. Hmmm….Runs with Coyotes is your new name. I think it’s perfect since you DO live on a reservation now….right?

I bet your run was MUCH better knowing the coyote ran away from you this time. I think I would be more scared of the buck, though! LOL

Keep up the running. Yea it’s cold now, but at least your sweat is freezing on you. What are you gonna do when it’s 0 out there?

I wasn’t going to leave a comment but then I saw the word verification…
    “darties”

hahahahahhaaa Is this what Higgins does when he’s running with you? Is this what you do to get away from the coyote?

Anyhow, thought it was cute since it’s a running post = )

Keep up the good work! It gets easier and feels better with every run!
