We’re headed to Colorado this afternoon! I am so excited. I always feel so blessed to get to ride with Buck and learn from all his experience.
There was a time when I rode a horse, and paid no attention, whatsoever, to where his feet were. I just turned when I wanted to turn, stopped when I wanted to stop, and basically had no idea how to ask that horse when what I wanted was the easiest thing for him to do. Now, a horse can learn on his own, being ridden that way, how to position himself to do what is easiest, but wouldn’t it be easier if we “helped” him?
As I grew up, and learned how to get some timing on a horse, my horses got quieter and learned to ride better and turn around with more finesse. But you have to get to the feet first!
