Confession 2.4

bathroom-scale

I’m not going to say I fell off the wagon this week, but I did kind of.

My cheat day Saturday found me eating ice cream with peanut butter and Reeses mixed in. Other than toast for breakfast that was the only thing I ate that isn’t allowed during the week. For some reason I wasn’t craving anything I’m not allowed to eat (no bread, no potatoes, no rice, no pasta, no fruit- NO. NO. NO.). Go figure, right?

Sunday I broke in my new xc skis and made it about 45 minutes. That’s a great workout people. I’m not gonna lie. I also really enjoyed it. And was sore the next day. On my excursion I was accompanied by the dogs and even my cat, Sookie! She’s crazy folks! Zach said there was no way I’d make it 20 minutes. Guess I proved him wrong.

Monday I made it about 10 minutes skiing. It was SO cold that day. And I was sore from the day before so I skipped my UFC workout on the kinect. I slacked, I know.

Tuesday I didn’t eat well. I had Cheerios for breakfast. I had to get to town and well, to be honest, cold cereal is way faster than cooking myself eggs. And it requires less clean-up too. Lunch was a Caprese salad with steak, and supper was, also, steak. Again, I skipped out on my workout.

Wednesday I did a major ab workout thanks to the UFC trainer. Seriously people, they like to punish your core.

Yesterday it was legs and even though I did multiple sets of side lunges, side lunges with a hold, lunges with a twist, squats and squats with a hold, I’m not sore this morning. I think my legs are starting to come back to me!

Today is upper body.

Beginning weight 1/6- 144.6
Weight on 1/18- 142.2

On an unrelated, (or is it?), I do believe I’ll be going to get my thyroid tested very soon (lucky for me there’s a doctor in the family!). I’ve hit the magic number 35 when they want you start getting tested, and frankly I’m experiencing both hypo and hyper thyroid symptoms. This past week my hair and skin have suddenly become oily – despite never in my life having had oily hair or skin, and up until this past week my hair could only be described as brittle and, dry (also not my normal hair). It has certainly been tangling more easily and has been coming out in chunks occasionally. The 25 lbs I put on really only occurred since last June, despite my running, losing a few lbs, going on a clean diet for 8 weeks, gaining some back, losing it again. I’ve been suffering from hyperhydrosis for the past year too. TMI? Sorry! I swear I sound like an unhealthy, old woman! And, maybe this is too much to confess, but I figure I should be honest about where I am, especially if it will help someone else.

How are your weight loss goals going? What did you accomplish this week? How was your calorie intake? Let’s hear from you how you did this week! Also don’t forget to follow us with the #strongisthenewsexy tag!

Happy Weekend!

About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.

I’ve been eating chia seeds every am since the 1st & cutting back on sugar and carbs — during the day!! Trying not to deny myself or I’ll binge on pasta! High protein & fiber are warding off tons. Always have a couple of hard boiled eggs for a quick breakfast. Need to get some exercise in though!! 1/6 – 138 1/18 – 131

Must admit, I’m kind of jealous you get to xc ski for your workout. I used to do that when I was younger when we used to get a lot of snow and it was the best workout (probably because it was something different for me) but regardless, it was still fun.

Had a great week so far. Stayed on my eating plan, stuck with my workouts… although I subbed one day of fat-blast-cardio for a 45 minute dance party with my kids – WAY more fun! My weigh in isn’t until Monday, but when I stepped on the scale to weigh a package (I’m redneck like that), I was already 4 pounds down and that was WITH clothes and boots on. I’ll call that good!

At least you are able to recognize where you slipped up! Despite traveling 1400 miles plus round trip, I feel ok with how my week went. Only one pop in the 5 days of being gone and no candy or chips. I didn’t get big workouts in but I walked motel hallways and took several trips around the block at my uncles house. Keep op keeping on
