So yesterday I’m sitting in my folk’s house, on the phone during mid-morning waiting for the ground to dry out enough to safely ride.
I noticed this crazy chattering, gurgling sound that sounded, basically, like a squirrel. I hang up and I’m looking for where this sound is coming from. I look at the fireplace, and the dog, Haley, is sitting next to the glass doors just quivering. I’m like, is she sitting on a mouse or something? So I shoo her and then I hear the sound. It surely is a squirrel in the chimney.
By this time, I’m freaking out thinking that he can’t possibly be stuck in there and how the fey do you get a squirrel out of chimney? I get daddy on the phone. He laughs and is like great. When he got home from work last night he closed the flu, since he couldn’t see it or hear it.
Today, while in their office editing some video, I hear all this ruckus again only this time, scratching and clawing. And of course the dog has eyes glued to the fireplace. There it sure enough is, little bugger. Sitting on the fireplace logs.
How do you get a squirrel out of a fireplace?

Aw, he’s probably about dehydrated by now. You could drop a rope down, but he may not have enough in him left to climb out!
Probably the most humane thing to do would be to open the fireplace doors/fan cover and let him come out through the house. Just put the pets up and close all of the doors/curtains, etc. Leave a wide opening, be it a door or window and the squirrel should follow the light source outside.
