Happy New Year, A Fire and a Broken Bra

January 2, 2008 by Shauna 4 Comments

Well 2008 is here! It seems like only yesterday that we were all concerned about Y2K crashing our world; it didn’t. We’re all still here, 8 years later. I can’t really believe it’s been 8 years.

We rang in the New Year at Jill and Brandon’s by partaking in my killer margaritas and playing Dominos. Shortly after midnight, we ran outside to see if the gas well up the road had fired anymore fireworks, as they had done so earlier in the night. Now, before I go further, I should introduce you to Brandon. He’s a fire chief in a local town here in the DFW area; and he is a volunteer firefighter in his town. So he has a flat-bed fire truck with a water pump and water etc.

We’re all outside and there are no fireworks, so he fires off a flare from his flare gun. And promptly sets his front yard on fire. OH yes! You read that right. And of course we’re all lauging about it, and Jill is screaming, “put it out baby, put it out” waving her arms around like she’s holding a big fire hose. He does manage to put the fire out, and of course we all thought the entire thing was funnier than funny!

New Year’s Day was spent at a barrel race with Jill and Brandon; I hauled three horses to run. On my second run, I was going across the pen to the third barrel, and my bra split in half, right down the middle in the front. Oh yes, it did.
And it was a brand- new VS bra. I was laughing because it’s funny, but I don’t like it that I ruined a $40 bra.

The barrel race went well, and I’m glad that I brought in the new year on such a great note!

Spread the Love!
