Happy New Year…To Us!

January 9, 2009 by admin 6 Comments

I told you last week that this year was going to be great! So far in 2009:

  • I have a new (to me) house.
  • I was given free rein to decorate and paint to my heart’s content (Zach said this morning that he really liked it).
  • I am closer to my horses; and in a few moments I’m heading down to say hi, and take photos of the furry weanlings!

Then yesterday…

Zach had a used washer and dryer in the other house. They were in the basement. The washer leaked water out the bottom when the spirit moved it to do so. It wasn’t a big deal in the basement where it was located because it had a drain right near the hook-up for that very reason (I mean no one wants a flooded basement, right?). So we’d talked about it, and decided we’d get a new washer at the least. Then we looked at the space in the laundry room, which is roughly 70 x 70 in the spot we had to put a washer and dryer. We really needed to put an upright freezer in that space too in order not to sacrifice my coat closet/brooms closet storage. Then we contemplated a stackable washer/dryer combo.

In the appliance store yesterday I fell in love with a Maytag Epic Z. My mom has a Maytag. She loves hers. Zach’s mom has a Maytag, and she loves hers. So we bit the bullet and bought a new washer and dryer! Hey we got financed for 0% for 12 months! It’s a first new washer and dryer for the both of us! He’s 39 and I’m 31. They are also stackable. So that’s how they’re placed in the laundry room. The quandry is solved! I have room for the upright freezer and a killer washer and dryer, both without sacrificing the coat closet that Zach is going to build us.

This machine is smart! It fills and spins according to the load. And it has all sorts of wonderful settings! There’s even a sterilization setting and is certified to sterilize clothing! The dryer locks the control panel until you clean the lint filter (which I am eternally guilty of NOT doing). I washed a down pillow in it last night and that sucker is cleaner than it’s been in years. I promise.

I’ve never been so excited about doing laundry in my life. We’ll see how long it takes this shine to wear off!

Spread the Love!

If so . . . why and I the only one so dang giddy about it?

We have made a major purchase TOGETHER!!

This is the first! Isn’t it?

Oh, I’m coming to South Dakota for a wedding!

AND it won’t let her start a load of laundry without changing the lint filter…she thought the old one didn’t have one! 😀

Now, that’s funny about the lint filter. When Jaqu went off to college, she started doing her own laundry. We’d done laundry before (together), but I did most of it since there was always dancewear that needed special handling and daily washing for practices. I’d shown her how, so I’m not sure how this happened, but somehow, she went for a year and a half putting her laundry soup in the little place where you put liquid softener. Soooo, for all that time, her clothes got no soap until the rinse cyle. nice.
