I can’t find my daughter!

June 19, 2007 by Shauna 2 Comments

I get a call last night at about 9:30pm from the mom of the girl that works for me. I didn’t answer my phone, as per usual for that time. The people that really need me can call my house phone (and it’s a limited number of people that even have that unlisted number).

But the voice mail tone rang, so I checked the number. I had no idea what number it was, so I listened. It’s this woman, trying not to sound panicked. She says she has no idea where her daughter is and wants to know if she came to the barn today. I honestly didn’t know, as I left the barn at 2pm.

I made a quick call to my dad to see if he could tell me if she’d been there. He said she was, and that she left with a boy in a white blazer at about 7:25pm.

After finding that out, I called her mom to tell her what I knew. She said the girl does this all the time. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she grounds her- and she should be in trouble. I’ve half a mind to say something to her myself. She seems responsible enough, but at the same time, that’s not a responsible way to behave.

I feel bad for her mom.

I cannot even imagine the days that I am going to have like this with my girls. I gave my mom plenty of hell growing up..and I am sure that I am in for some payback!

Unfortunately, especially lately, abductions are all over the news. My son went to walk over to the neighbor’s house to join them on a trip to the movies. Some teenage boys were walking down the street and it actually made me nervous. I don’t know what I thought was going to happen- but there sure have been some scary things in the news lately!

She needs to be more considerate.
