Macro Monday

October 26, 2009 by Shauna 9 Comments

I’ve decided I’m going to begin partaking in some of the photography blogs that are scattered about the world wide web.

A Professional photographer I am not, but regardless, I like taking pictures, and so I figure this is a good way to get input, and maybe I’ll learn something. Like about apertures. What is that, anyway? Here are a couple pictures I snapped this weekend. The first two I took while we were out checking on the mare herds and the others, are of my cat, Reeses.

Very nice! Aperture is the hole that lets the light in. They did it really screwy though. The bigger the aperture number (F8.0) the smaller the hole, i.e. less light. The smaller the number (F1.8) the bigger the hole. That's why I love my 50mm and 85mm lens with 1.8. They are great for low light shots. Do I make any sense whatsoever?

Oh, forgot something else. The smaller the number, the blurrier the background (depth of field stuff). I was admiring the kitty feet and thought of it. Love those kitty toes.

I like those pictures. Especially like the first one of the barbed wire fence. After starting to blog, I have decided I need to learn more about photography. I think I need and SLR camera as my next step up…

@ the wife- thanks for the tips. I have a cannon Digital SLR which according to the powers that be is a fancy professional grade camera, but I have no idea how to change the settings on it, as it's not mine (it belongs to Zach's younger brother). I just recently noticed that I can see numbers in the view-finder when I'm setting up shots. Lol. I know, I'm blond.
