Mr. Higgins

March 26, 2009 by admin 7 Comments

Some of you know, and some of you don’t, that I have the most adorable little Papillon in the whole wide world. I love my Higgins dog! About 10 days ago his left eye started bothering him and he started sneezing a lot too, so I put him on some Children’s Benadryl and a daily eye wash with baking soda and warm water. It didn’t get any worse, but It didn’t get any better either. This past weekend when the blizzard was blowing through, his eye became very cloudy and inflamed and really stopped looking right. So yesterday, since the weather had broken, I took him to Ft. Pierre to the vet. I had no idea what they’d tell me, but I figured that he would probably lose the eye, because it just didn’t look right. Turns out he had, at some point in the weekend, sustained a puncture to his eyeball so the entire eye had to be removed this morning. I’m doing pretty good with this, and though he won’t ever look the same again, at least I may get another 7 -9 years of companionship out of my little *Boo- Boo Dog*.

    Poor you and Mr. Higgens!
We are always worrying about our Pug’s bug-eyes. Maybe a fly mask for doggies?
I’m glad you weren’t snowed in and got him to the vet. One eye is plenty. You’ll both do fine. Hugs.

He’s adorable! Reading about the eyeball gave me shivers. Poor guy! He’ll be perfectly fine and nearly 100% with just one eye!

I did not even see this post when you put it up.
I was wondering what happened to Mr. Higgins, and now I know.

He will be okay, and so will you.
Buy him so haute puppy shades and you will never know the difference.

His cute little papillion ears, and a pair of FIERCE CrystalCaballo puppy shades. I’m gonna work on those . . . see if I can’t come up with something.

My mom has a papillion also. She has the worst allergies possible, but she is such a sweet dog. I’m sure your Higgins is just as sweet!
