My Confession

December 2, 2008 by Shauna 3 Comments

Bina was here commenting like mad last night- I love her, btw! and she asked about my running.

Well here’s how the running is going down…

It’s not. I haven’t run since I left for Texas in November. While I was away, there was a blizzard here at home. And then when I got back, it snowed again. And it’s snowed on and off and generally been way too muddy to run. You see, folks, there is no pavement for me to run on around here. And I don’t have a treadmill (I find them boring anyhow- but I’d run on one if worst came to worst- and it has).

Yesterday marked the first day that it was completely dry enough, and nice enough for me to decide I could brave it. I basically just walked about 1.6 miles, though I ran up all the hills- which is the hardest part and makes your heart-rate skyrocket. (Ok, so only my heart-rate, because I’m old and fat and out of shape!).

I discovered however, that Granny, Zach’s mom, has a treadmill in her basement, so I’ll utilize that today. I figured it’d help me get in shape- seeing as how running cross country only in soft ground through rough terrain, downhill the entire away run, and uphill the entire home run, are killing me and I feel like I’ll never get in shape. It was sooooo much easier when I was younger. I used to run 5ks. I used to run a lot of miles each week. Not having my windtrainer around either isn’t helping. I hope I et that back from my ex husband gsoon. Along with a bunch of other stuff that is mine. I digress.

Today it is supposed to rain and snow. Welcome to fall in South Dakota, Dear Jennifer. But I hope to ride a few horses and then I’ll dress down to run in the basement. I’m not sure where to start- run a mile or run 800s and walk 400s. Ah well. I got in shape before. I can do it again. I get the feeling it’s just going to take longer. Getting old sucks.

Disclaimer- I forgot to add that while I haven’t been running, I’ve been doing yoga, almost daily, as well as crunches and sit-ups.

Spread the Love!

Now see, I should have read this first! So, are you in the basement using the treadmill? And I can see that would be MUCH easier cause man, if I had to run up hills, I’d get shin splints, and those hurt!
