I went to ride with Mark, the trainer I worked for in college.
As usual, I learned some AMAZING drills, and both my mares were better.
Shuttle got so soft, I could think it then wiggle my leg and she was doing it. She’s only the smartest horse ever (ok, so I’m biased) and tries SO HARD!
Sonora laid her first set of *correct* elevens! She was so soft, and her hips just slid right up under her. Someday, I’ll get some of that sweetness on video to share with those of you that don’t have horses but love to learn (Steve!).
Then in the afternoon, he had some guys coming out to cut cattle. So I played turn-back girl, on a super nice paint mare. She’s an amateur horse, and she can stop and spin a hole in the ground! Anyway, we brought the cattle up, Mark and I, and we penned them in the holding pen. Both my mares were tied to the holding pen, and Sonora nearly had a come apart (the good kind) every time cow got near. I’m talking, ears back, teeth bared, charging the fence kinda come apart. OMG! I’ve got to rope something, and soon!
