I’m currently in Texas, after having spent last weekend in Oklahoma at the Regional Run for the Bonus Race. I still haven’t won a qualifier for the 2017 Run for the Bonus, but I had a blast, made two of three clean runs on my horse and this marks the first weekend I’ve ridden him that I haven’t felt like I was run over by a Mack Truck after the second day.
Last year at this same run, I made only two clean runs and barely scratched the surface of being as fast as I was a few days ago. This year, it was a three-run race, and while I did take out the third barrel on day number two, my adjustments for day three landed me a 3rd place, 4D finish and a hefty check! I have a few more adjustments to make to land us in a faster division, but I’m having fun learning, and we’ll get there, I’ve no doubt.
The videos have yet to be published, so I’ll post those later. In the meantime, we’re gearing up to run in Glen Rose, Texas this coming weekend! I’ll get home on Tuesday, unpack, repack and head to North Dakota for a run on Friday the 12th.
Happy Trails!
