Yeah, so exactly 2 days ago I’m sayin’ “Sure, I’m a cowgirl now, because I do things that cowgirls would do!” But I’ll be damned if I’m not still a girly girl.
I don’t know how these South Dakota girls do it anyway.
Seriously.
No tanning beds for miles.
No Spas.
No manicures; and worse yet, NO Pedicures!
No Gyms.
And gawd, I’m in need of one. I don’t know how it’s happened; maybe it’s Granny’s cooking (Granny is Zach’s mom) and all the lard she uses, and her fry bread, well, it’s the devil. If I want to run, I could, I could run on the road, where there are snakes. Wait, are cowgirls supposed to be afraid of snakes?
There is a home gym here, and I’ve used it exactly twice, and I’m hoping that in 2 weeks I’ll start to notice a difference, but the hours I keep to eat don’t help. And bacon for breakfast (EVERY MORNING) probably doesn’t help either. Eating late might be bad too, but the schedule is what it is and well, I can’t help that, can I?
But anyway, I am in need of some hair coloring and some sassy color on my legs, and maybe I just got spoiled living in the city. If I needed something- like say wrapping paper it was close. Now I have to have a list, because the nearest Wal-Mart is 50 miles away! Amazon.com is helpful, an awful lot. Inevitably, I forget stuff. Every. Single. Time. I. Go.
I don’t really know what the point of all this is. I’m not complaining. I mean, I gave up working in the financial field to ride horses everyday, as that is what I enjoy most. I guess this cowgirl, wants her cake and would like to eat it too…

I’m a big fan of tanning lotions – they’ve gotten a lot better over the years. I’m quite freckly so I can’t do real sun or tanning beds for fear that my freckles will grow into cancer. Neutragena has some good products, or there are also more and more lotions with a tiny bit of tanner in them, for daily gradual color.

I’m planning on putting some color on my hair tonight, that’s for sure! It’s been too long.
And it’s not like you can just go lay out in the sun this time of year, right? Take a day off, go tan, get the feet and hands done, get colored and clipped and you’ll feel like a girly girl again.

Hi, I’m intrigued by your blog. How did you come to move from the city to the “wilds of SD?” It’s culture shock, isn’t it? I grew up on a ranch in eastern Montana, probably similar to where you are now, but then left to live in urban areas, not big cities, but not ranches either. The “life” holds a lot of nostalgia for me, especially since I’ve been writing a novel based on my grandmother who rode steers in MT rodoes during the 1920s!
