The Sunrise and the Snow

November 21, 2008 by admin 4 Comments

For you, my readers I have today, braved the elements. Not once, but twice!

This morning, I awoke to find it about 13 degrees outside, and with the wind, weather.com said it felt like a -1 outside. Just right if you ask me! Um, notsomuch.

The sunrise was too gorgeous and needed to be captured, albeit poorly, by my camera that won’t do fancy stuff (or maybe it will and I just have no idea how to make it do so). Or, maybe it is the picture-taker that sucks. Regardless, I traipsed out onto the back deck, in below freezing temperatures in my pj’s wearing a coat I stole off the back of a chair and captured the following in colors. Of note: there was ice over everything. Seriously. My cats have been angry because their water is frozen, so they’re asking to come in frequently.

We had snow in the forecast today as well- a 50% chance, and as I type this it is still snowing. It started about 30 minutes ago. So again, your faithful friend, who knows you all crave to know what goes on in her life, or do you? (hmmmm)… went outside in those same pj pants, though I was sporting a beanie and a sweater this time- and go figure, I manged to match in that get-up! I captured the snow and took some video. You can hear the wind howling. It’s still howling. I have to get out in this stuff this afternoon to go feed critters and get feed for the calves. I think it’s up to a whopping 24 degrees. Tomorrow they say it should be 41, but I am not holding my breath.

The TV was on to the Iditarod reality show tonight and they kept telling what the temp was at that point. I can’t believe I ever survived living in Nome, Alaska… BRRRRR!!!!!

    Wait. You lived in Alaska?

How quickly we become accustomed to warmer temps when we live nearer the equator!
