In Over My Head?

February 9, 2009 by Shauna 5 Comments

Whew. Breathe, Jenn. Breathe!

I have to write about an awesome thing that happened on Friday. But I’ll save that for another post. I’d have written about it earlier but my internet has been spotty at best all last week and so far this week, so that explains for the lack of blogging lately.

First- I’m going to go to Texas in April. It’s time to pick up my old horse, who wintered with Jill; the Better Barrel Races Finals are in April in Oklahoma City. And the first qualifier that I’ll be able to make for the 2010 finals is in Abilene, Tx April 10-12. I will hopefully also be tying up some strings in my life that have been dangling for over a year now. I’m planning to be in Texas on the 8th, and then head to OKC on the 22nd or so for the BBR finals.

When I get back, I’ve got chicks coming the week of May 11. And there is currently no hen house. I also want to put in a garden. Guess when the tomatoes and onions are supposed to ship? Yes you got it- Last week of April for the onions, and the first week of May for the tomatoes. Guess when the cucumbers should go in- right about that same time. I’m wondering if I have bit off more than I can chew? I’m not sure what else I want to put in my garden besides tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. Oh, wait, I want to plant jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, and green and red bell peppers. And an eggplant too. And cilantro, and chives, and dill, and basil.

Sigh. It makes me tired to think of all that! And since we moved, all the lovely bulbs I planted will be flowering soon, and I won’t be around to see the fruits of that labor. And there are two flower beds here, that need to be done, and then all around the house is a rock garden. If you want to call it that. Some of that will have to be moved, because Zach is taking out the window in the dining room, and putting in french doors, so that I don’t have to have guests enter through the laundry room in anything less than crappy weather. Which means, that he’ll need to build either a deck or porch (hence the reason the rock has to go)- I’m lobbying for the porch myself. The porch will stretch from the end of the house (where you enter through the laundry room, around the eastern side of the house, to the new french doors that will create an entry through the dining room/kitchen.

And in the meantime, there are about 120 horses here; 30 or so of which need to be started this summer. Jill– You’re going to be busy when you’re here!

I rambled, y’all I’m sorry. Do you think I may be overwhelming myself for the first week of May, right when I get back from a nearly month- long trip to Texas? That was the original point of this entire rambling.

Spread the Love!

Yikes… Busy spring! How big do you want your garden to be? Maybe start the seedlings inside before you leave and transplant when you get back???? (My mom plants everything, but green beans are my favorites!)

So how far south you coming?!?!?!?!?! Eh-hmmm?

Wow…busy girl! I agree with Rachel, maybe starting your plants inside would help. Other than that, deep breaths and margaritas!

31 you have to add Braska, to that head count!!! She might actually be started by then. Just depends, on what I do not know, if I bring her. If she has 30-45 rides before I leave, I will turn her out for the summer. And pick back up with her in the fall. She is only two, after all. Versace will be with me for sure and Coco. (I think Versace wrote about his trip up there.) That is 2. Maybe Poncho and any empty spot to bring something else home.

I really want to plant and keep a garden but you know how I am with anything green.
