More Babies!

May 15, 2009 by admin 6 Comments

I took yesterday afternoon off from riding to go check mares. I thought I had to; for one, I’ve put my beloved gray mare (Streakin Iron– Sonora Nora- mother of Dolce), out with a stud, in a pasture a section and a half big. I have never turned her out on that much real-estate before, so I, of course am nervous. Furthermore, in that same pasture last year, a hailstorm drove the mares and the stud into the river, and we lost 3 broodmares in that storm. We found the stud, Silver Bueno Tom (Tom), across the bay, about 1/2 a mile away, with a mare and her six week old filly. And later that fall, discovered an orphan foal in a neighbor’s pasture. She’d lived there all by herself all summer. We assumed she died in the storm.

And the second reason of course, is that I wanted to see how many new babies have graced us with their cuteness! There are two more- one is a muley little bay horse colt- he’s not the cutest foal in the bunch right now, but I’ve also always wanted a muley bay- so I guess I got my wish. The other is a gorgeous filly by Poco Tivo Pep (Chachi)- out of Gump’s half sister, DX Red Rozee. Chachi is really putting his mark on the babies, with his big, sleepy eye.

Here’s the filly by Poco Tivo Pep x Dx Red Rozee:

And here’s the horse colt by WDX Nukem x Misters Gingersnap:

Have a great Friday!

They are amazing! I don’t blame you one bit for being worried about them, after the horrible accidents with the hailstorm. I would be the same way!

By the way, yes, I have time to work on the sitting back, any suggestions are welcome!

I remember that storm last year, but I don’t remember saying you found a baby at a neighbors pasture! That is frreaking amazing! Was she developing okay???

I just can’t get over how beautiful Streakin’ Iron is. Just beautiful.

And that filly is just so precious!!!! So, does that make 7? 8? I think I’ve lost count.
