Thanksgiving Day

November 16, 2007 by admin 1 Comment

My brother and his expectant wife are coming up for basically the entire week next week- they’ll be here on Tuesday and leave sometime on Saturday.

I’m very excited: I’ll actually have some time to spend with them this time when they’re here. Last time they were here from Austin, I was in Austin! But with them being here for 5 days, there’s a good chance we’ll get to do some fun stuff.

We’ve about got the menu for the day figured out. As per usual for the last three years, I’m making Wild Mushroom Green Beans. It’s not a casserole, it’s much lighter and has all sorts of exotic mushrooms in it. As well as FRESH green beans, YUM-O! I’ll also be responsible for some sort of pie- since I LOVE to bake. Probably an Apple Cranberry Crisp and a Pumpkin Pie, because it just can’t be Thanksgiving WITHOUT Pumpkin Pie.

I assume, that my sister will bring some sort of salad, since that’s usually what she brings and mom will be left (as she LIKES it) to cook the turkey, the potatoes, stuffing (nasty) and cranberry sauce- which is usually poured out of a can- again, I could DO so much better.

I’m sure the day will be fun and after we’re through eating we’ll probably sit and watch some football or play Monopoly or something.

What’s a better way to spend a holiday than with good food, great family and fun?

Spread the Love!
