The Fabulous Sugar Doll Blog Award

November 14, 2009 by ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~ 10 Comments

Kristen over at Happily Ever After, bestowed this upon me Friday:

Sugar_award

Thanks, Kristen!

As part of being chosen for the award, I’m supposed to share 10 fascinating things about myself. Kristen had her husband come up with the list. I asked Zach and his answer was, “I am not a blogger”, (translation- you’re on your own) so I’m thinking that maybe I should leave it up to, YOU, the readers to tell me things that y’all  find fascinating about my life? I will start the list and then y’all could maybe finish it? Something must be fascinating if you keep coming back, right?

1. I live on 8000 acres.
2. We get to raise animals for a living.
3. I live 10 miles from my mailbox.
4. I only go to town for groceries and supplies every 3-5 weeks.
5. I would not find it unusual or say no,  to keeping a sick calf or foal out of my house; in fact, I’ve had an hours old foal in my dining room.
6. Incorrect use of grammar is one of my biggest pet peeves; either in writing or in speaking.

From the readers:

7. I am creative.

8. I am a Tarleton Texann.

9. I see beauty in all of the world that surrounds me. (That sounds like I’m a super positive person, so thanks for that Janna!

10. I have a beautiful singing voice.

Maybe I already pointed out the obvious fascinating portions of my life. No worries though, if by the end of the week, you, my lovely readers, haven’t pointed out four more, I’ll finish the list myself.

With that said, I’m going to pass the award on to some other Fabulous bloggers that I’ve recently discovered (and some that are my favorites)!!  These are in no  particular order.

1. Kit over at Gizzards and Calf Fries.  She is a smart, fun-loving, talented photographer that raises bucking stock (read beautiful, pretty cattle) and has some crazy dogs!

2. The always witty, Jen at Sprite’s Keeper. I love how she looks at the world. She always makes me laugh. She is also responsible for the craziness that is The Spin Cycle.

3. Ranch Momma; Kimberly and I live similar lives. She shares some amazing recipes, and also takes amazing photos; and even has a Facebook Photo Group.

4. My sister-in-law, Amy, over at The Zeller Zoo. She blogs primarily to keep the family apprised of what the most adorable niece on the planet, Tatum, is doing.

5. My cousin, Janna, over at The Adventure of Motherhood. She too writes about her new little girl that is just a bit younger than my niece Tatum. Janna has  a great perspective on life.

6. Maureen over at Island Roar. I really can never wait for her next installment. She is full of wisdom and wit and there is soooo much to be learned from her!

7. Jen over at Coconut Belly. I love her writing style- she just writes as it flows out of her. She really loves being a mommy.

8. Bina from Just Another Day. She is just too funny!

Thanks again, Kristen for the award, and don’t forget since you started this, you better get over here and give me a reason I’m fascinating!

Spread the Love!

About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.

Give your horse or dog, or cat the gift of mobility.

    WOW!

You should add creative to your list of why people find you fascinating.

I didn’t know you sold jewelry in an Etsy shop! It’s darling!

Where was I on that one!

Wow, lil ol me?! Thanks so much! I will have a very had time with the list myself.

Something I find fascinating about you is you are a fellow Tarleton Texann! But that’s probably doesn’t mean much to any others. I love your recipes! And even though I hate chickens (bad rooster experience as a child) I enjoy your chicken pics! That’s gotta count for something!

Thanks Jenn! I wish I could share more than mainly pictures and updates on the blog, but life is pretty boring outside of Tatum and I just don’t think many people would care what I had to say! 🙂 Maybe one of these days I’ll share like you do because I love to read what’s on your mind!

So, I primarily “stalk” a bunch of the blogs I read and don’t know the ladies personally, so if I can’t come up with 10 to pass the award on to, is that OK?

Can’t wait to see you over Thanksgiving!! xoxo

Yes, Amy, that is perfectly fine. And you don’t have to pass it on to anyone if you don’t want.

Any award from you is an honor!
And what about you DON’T I find fascinating?
Just picturing your life out there and those horses and cattle..
And are you seriously 10 miles from your mailbox!! My old friends in NJ can’t believe I have to go “to town” to get my mail, but that’s only 5 mi away (in NJ it was delivered right to our little old doors).
    Thank you for the award.
    Sending big bloggy hugs.
    There; got ’em?

Haha, I came across your blog because I was recently awarded the Sugar Doll. I had a really hard time coming up with answers and almost let people comment mine too. 🙂
Have a blessed Wednesday, and Happy Thanksgiving!
