The Most Fortunate Girl on Planet Earth

November 17, 2008 by Shauna 1 Comment

Yesterday, while not entirely different from every other day, brought a big ol’ smile to my face.

It was overcast.
It was cold.
It was windy.

Did I mention it was cold?
There was snow on the ground.

I had great company, a big pretty buttermilk-colored dun horse to ride – and I do mean big and I do mean pretty! Cows to chase and open prairie to ride through.

We went to help the neighbor move cows off of one of the pastures he leases from us. It was only about 60 pairs. So not that many, and they moved really pretty well. There were deer everywhere- probably about 50 mule deer. Several bucks that you knew would look good on anyone’s wall, and they’d make great summer sausage to boot- or burritos or chili. Yummy.

I don’t know exactly what it was about yesterday that made it so special- except that I got to ride a good horse, across God’s country, in yucky weather with snow on the ground! And I had a blast. I guess it’s because I consider myself lucky that I get to do what I want to do everyday!
