While the country here, doesn’t look like the country in Wyoming, I thought I’d share this video with you, taken by fellow blogger and rancher, Carol. This is her and the crew moving their cows off the mountain, out of the snow. If you’ve had trouble understanding why cattle don’t just get moved into a “barn” and why you don’t just go “get” them before a blizzard, maybe this will help.
Further, she mentions in her post that the cows were perfectly content in the snowy range.
Just goes to show you how wrong we often are when we anthropomorphize animals. What they want and what’s best for them is often different than what we’d want or what would be best for us.
Happy trails!
what’s the name of those hills I can see in the background? Any map reference I can look at. I’d like to put a name to the land I’m looking at. Thanks.
These are the Big Horn mountains of Wyoming.
Thank you.Found it on Google.
Thank you for sharing!! It warms my heart to see the wide open places of America! We are in a rural area halfway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. But just a taste of country on 5 acreas a few chickens, cats, dogs, a goat and a pony! I’m thankful for people as you that give there life to preserve our great heritage!
Very neat video! Currently I could fit my whole cow herd into my living room, but I wish that wasn’t the case! It’s a great thing you guys are doing to promote this way of life!
Yay for chickens, cats, dogs, goats and ponies! Those are all critters we have on our ranch here!
Great way to give people a taste of a wonderful and peaceful experience!
It feels peaceful just to watch!
