Tapadero Annies: Giveaway!

April 9, 2018 by ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~ 3 Comments

I’m so excited to get back into the swing of giveaways!  I always enjoy sharing my love of artists and all things western with you! This week we’ll kick off the start of April with something extra special: goodies from the ultra talented Jessica Casteel! She’s pretty much a rockstar and when I grow up I want to be as crafty as her! So without further ado, let’s meet her!

Tell us a little about yourself!

Jessica Casteel here – momma to Haddie Ann and Tapadero Thomas, wife to one heck of a hand, and my sweetheart, Travis! We are located in West River South Dakota, where we operate our ranch, the TC Outfit. Along with the everyday tasks of running cattle, and raising babies I decided to start a new little online store called Tapadero Annie’s it makes me take time to fill my soul with things that make my heart sing- painting and drawing. Inspired by a love for our two kiddos, Tapadero Annie’s was named! My motto- Always remember, style is what makes you unique, wear it loud, and wear it proud!

How did you start your business? What inspired you to do this?

I have always been a “crafty one”, my mother and grandmother are both extremely handy when it comes to floral/home design and I guess the gene carried over! I have been crafting with both of them since I was a young girl. When I was in college you would find many tiny sketches among my classroom notes, that soon evolved into an outlet for pain and fear in my first marriage. After life changing events, I found myself always turning to create, imagine and design following my divorce. Now remarried, I am able to take those creations and turn them into items for others to enjoy!

How do you know me?

I met you through our sweet mutual friend, Dave Long! (and frankly, we should feature him too, right? because his braiding work is incredible! -SDC)

Where can interested customers connect with you? (i.e. What’s your Facebook/Instagram/Social Media/Websites?)

About ~The South Dakota Cowgirl~

Jenn Zeller is the creative mind and boss lady behind The South Dakota Cowgirl. She is an aspiring horsewoman, photographer, brilliant social media strategist and lover of all things western.

After a brief career in the investment world to support her horse habit (and satisfy her mother, who told her she had to have a “real” job after graduating college), she finally took the leap and stepped away from a regular income; trading the business suit once and for all for cowgirl boots, a hat, and jeans. She has not looked back.

When Jenn first moved to The DX Ranch on the South Dakota plains, she never imagined she’d find herself behind a camera lens capturing an authentic perspective of ranching, and sharing it with others. Jenn has always been called to artistry, and uses music, writing, images, home improvement, and her first true love of horses to express her ranching passion.

Horses are the constant thread and much of her work centers around using her unique style of writing to share her horsemanship journey with others in publications such as CavvySavvy, the AQHA Ranching Blog, the West River Eagle, the family ranch website, and her own website.

Using photography to illustrate her stories has created other opportunities -- Jenn’s brand “The South Dakota Cowgirl” has grown to the level of social media “Influencer”. This notoriety has led to work with Duluth Trading Company, Budweiser, Wyoming Tourism, Vice, Circle Z Ranch and Art of the Cowgirl, to name a few. She also serves as a brand ambassador for Woodchuck USA, Arenus Equine Health, Triple Crown Feed and Just Strong fitness apparel. Her photography has been featured by Instagram, Apple, TIME Magazine, The Huffington Post, and Oprah Magazine. Jenn’s work has been published internationally, has been seen in several books and has graced the covers of several magazines.

Jenn became a social media influencer by accident when she started to explore Instagram as a way to share her life on the ranch with folks that don’t get to experience it. It’s grown into an incredible platform that she uses to empower women, create an environment for self improvement and share life on the ranch.

When she’s not working, she loves to drink coffee, play with her naughty border collie named Copper, start ranch colts, and run about the country chasing cans. Her mother still thinks she doesn’t have a “real” job.
